Description

A samosa is a crispy, triangular Indian snack made from thin pastry filled with
spiced potatoes, peas, and herbs, then deep-fried until golden brown. It's often
served hot with mint or tamarind chutney and enjoyed as a popular street food or
tea-time treat across South Asia, with variations that include meat or sweet fillings.

Ingredients

Steps

  1. Prepare the dough: Mix flour, salt, and oil. Add water gradually to form a firm dough. Cover and rest for 30 minutes.
  2. Make the filling: Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, then green chili, peas, and mashed potatoes. Stir in all spices and salt, mix well, and cool.
  3. Shape samosas: Divide dough into balls, roll each into an oval, cut in half, form a cone, and fill with the potato mixture. Seal edges with water.
  4. Fry: Heat oil on medium flame and fry samosas until golden and crisp.
  5. Serve: Drain excess oil and serve hot with mint or tamarind chutney.
